I know people who are bent out of shape, whose noses are out of joint
and who are all worked up into a lather. These same people have had
it up to hear, are going through the roof, fit to be tied and about
to have a cow. They’ve been rubbed the wrong way and are wound
tighter than a spring.
There’s something else these people have in common. They are all
unhappy and they all needlessly carry something from the past. They’ve
most likely all been wounded deeply.
If you find yourself identifying with these descriptions, know that
this is a very hopeful reflection.
Part of Joseph Scriven’s poem contain these words.
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
We may not be able to keep ourselves from tripping, but we can get up.
We may be bruised, but there is balm. I praise God that we have a proactive
God. And in this way we may be like Him.
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Psalm 147:3
Rejoicing in hope,
Pastor Steve
