If I so chose, I could give you a very long list of injustices I’ve
endured this week. But since that would just raise my blood pressure
and cause me to imagine all kinds of retaliatory unpleasantries, I won’t
go there.
This week’s Bible lesson at church is about struggling. Things
like persevering, disciplining the will, striving for God. So in keeping
with this spiritual theme, I tried to set my mind on things above.
On Sunday, many people – that’s many, many people came to
Julliard park to help with a fun run. It was a great success from my
perspective. The weather was gorgeous, the runners were happy, the volunteers
were enthusiastic. So I thanked the coordinator who brought all of us
together.
About 6:30 on Tuesday evening I stopped by the precinct voting location
hosted by the Sonoma Church. The volunteers had been there since 6 AM.
(I know because I let them in) I thanked the four of them, all volunteers,
for assisting in the democratic process.
This morning I made another phone call. Yesterday the garbage company
missed our can. I reported it. They said they’d take care of it.
Early this morning a truck stopped by and emptied our can. So I called
back to make sure that driver gets a ‘thank you.’
A sprinkler system went in this week at Rohnert Park. It didn’t
magically happen. Ask around and thank those who made it happen. All
sorts of things happen in our lives that make them better. Acknowledge
it. Affirm those involved.
My wife is getting ready for Sabbath - cooking cleaning, - that sort
of thing. She’s very busy as I type this. So if you’ll excuse
me, I need to go and thank her.
“So everywhere we go, we tell everyone about Christ. We warn them
and teach them with all the wisdom God has given us, for we want to
present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. I work
very hard at this, as I depend on Christ’s mighty power that works
within me.” Colossians 1:28-29
Rejoicing in hope,
Pastor Steve
