The treasure is so close, almost within reach, yet so elusive. If I
could just see it, possession could be mine. However, I’m standing
in waist-deep, murky water with my wife hoping to bump into a large,
orange koi. Fat chance.
For several years I was oblivious to the treasure. I had placed five
juvenile fish in the pond and forgot about them. Then a few years later
I happened to notice a couple of very large, colorful carp swimming
around the field pond.
Did I mention big, beautiful fish? Very big fish. But how does one get
very big fish out of a 100,000 gallon pond? One waits for the pond to
evaporate. But even waist-deep water is a challenge.
My point? I will get those fish. I have a plan and you’ll hear
about it next week. But back to the point. We can be surrounded by good
and be oblivious. Just because I can’t see it or hold it, doesn’t
make it nonexistent.
Just like with those fish, I’ve caught a glimpse of God’s
goodness, and I’m going to pursue it until it’s mine.
“But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and
possess the kingdom forever, even forever and ever.” Daniel 7:18
Rejoicing in hope,
