I’ve wondered if those who were so excited about last Saturday’s
date are as worried about today’s.
I’ve wondered if Solomon fretted about assets and liabilities.
I’ve wondered if the world didn’t suck would we all fall
off.
I’ve wondered if the above wonderings reveal that I’m more
burdened that I’d like to admit.
Anyway, some really encouraging things happened this. I found a wallet
I’d lost. A bank manager waived a deposit requirement so it would
be easier to open an account. The store let me exchange the watch that
wasn’t keeping time. I think the ants are finally gone from the
house. An orchid that lost all it’s leaves and that I’ve
been so patient with has sent out a new shoot.
I shared some encouragement – to the two ladies I let go ahead
of me at the post office – with my daughters who ate the strawberries
I picked up – with the Daniel class, what an awesome story! -
with the resident squirrel, I replaced my pellet gun for a live trap.
And some things I’ve never done before. I met the newest pastor
in town. I wrote a check for $275,000 that didn’t bounce. I spent
92 minutes on hold. (there’s actually a lot of things one can
do with one hand besides drive a car)
I’ve been very conscious of God’s presence minute by minute.
One of the great gifts of going through overwhelming experiences is
the necessity of turning more and more to the Source of strength.
“Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you.
He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” Psalm 55:22
Rejoicing in hope,
Pastor Steve
