Some interesting observations.
Tomorrow’s date is 07/07/07
There’ll be a baptism in Sonoma around 7 PM. (We should do it
seven minutes after)
It’s possible to get sunburned in the fog. At least my face sure
feels red.
It’s also possible to double schedule.
When we got on the water at Drake’s Estero this morning the wind
had already picked up. The clouds hung low over the bay. It didn’t
take long to spot our first bat ray. Swimming just under the surface,
the two tips of it’s fins would break the water. We followed.
There were gulls, terns, pelicans, egrets and herons. We passed hundreds
of sea lions. For two hours we braced the wind and successfully landed
our kayaks at the mouth of the bay.
Coming back was a breeze. For much of the way we just steered and let
the wind do the work for us. So quiet, so peaceful. I don’t know
how easy our lives are supposed to be. I do know that sometimes the
wind is in our face and sometimes it’s to our back. Whether going
is easy or a challenge really isn’t the point. It’s all
about whether or not we’re going in our chosen direction –
and about choosing what would please God.
“And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you?
He requires you to fear him, to live according to his will, to love
and worship him with all your heart and soul, and to obey the LORD’s
commands and laws that I am giving you today for your own good. The
highest heavens and the earth and everything in it all belong to the
LORD your God. Yet the LORD chose your ancestors as the objects of his
love. And he chose you, their descendants, above every other nation,
as is evident today.“ Deuteronomy 10:12-15
Rejoicing in hope,
