There’s an oak tree down the road I must capture. I pass it going
to either of our churches. The other morning the fog lay lightly in
the field surrounding it. (Fog regularly makes me think of flying.)
The sun was just cresting the horizon, and sprinkled diamonds through
it’s branches. The tree stood serenely silhouetted against the
pink and orange sky. I want that picture and when I get it, I’ll
share it.
In a few months that field will be laughing yellow with mustard. Leaves
will begin to show light green on the tree. I’ll want another
picture. With as many times as I’ve passed this tree, I’ve
never with my camera. There’s always somewhere to go, someone
to see, something to do. I want to stop and let this gift from God feed
me.
When I pass it, I almost always thank God for the testimony to His love
it gives. My photo will never replace the daily pleasure I get from
watching the seasons interact with this tree. I’m amazed that
this oak that takes so long to change, can be so different each time
I pass it.
You may be tempted to view your life as the same old same old. But so
many variables contribute to who we are and what we experience. God
wants them to interact with us to produce something beautiful. We may
never know the joy people get when they stop and look. But we, like
this oak, can be a testament to His love.
“Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother’s
womb you have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising you! My life
is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection.
That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all
day long.’ Psalm 71:6-8
Be at peace,
